DC Shoes Europe Presents Burning Ink

DC SHOES EUROPE PRESENTS BURNING INK ART SHOW
“ALL THE DRAWINGS WILL BE BURNT AT THE END OF THE SHOW”
Following on from the success of the Burning Ink event in Paris, New York City and Berlin,
DC Europe is proud to be launching the 4th edition of the Burning Ink art show in London
(Beach Gallery, 20 Cheshire Street, E2), from the 13th to the 31st of March 2012 in
partnership with Kids love Ink Custom Tattooing owned by the very talented Charlie Shazer.
Bringing together a unique selection of world-renowned street artists, graphic designers and
illustrators, Burning Ink is a crossover event between the worlds of fine arts and tattoos.
Previous editions artists were: Ssur, SBTG, Jeykill, Supakitch, Koralie, Xghetto666, Prunelle,
Scien+Klor & Dean (123klan), Marok, Spoe, Jef & Kostek @La Boucherie Moderne, Chloe
Trujillo and more… curated by Erwann Lameignère.
The concept is as radical and unique as before: all the handmade drawings designed by
selected artists will be burnt at the end of the show. A very different concept to an
ordinary art show, no one can go home with the art in its hands. The only way for the
drawings to survive the flames is to be bought and inked into the buyers’ skin, making
each design a unique tattoo.
The first edition of Burning Ink was held in Paris at Jeykill’s “Bleu Noir”, the tattoo
parlor/gallery in Durantin street, Paris 18th. New York’s Burning Ink took place in Frank’s
Chop shop, an incredible barber shop, managed by a young team of creative blades,
located in the Lower east side, at Essex street, 19. Berlin’s burning ink took place in the
downtown venue and well known MadeMyDay collabroom, located at Torstrasse, 66 not far
from Alexander Platz.
Burning Ink art show – March 13th to 31st
With Kids Love Ink custom tattooing, exhibition @ beach gallery
20-14 Cheshire St. (Off Brick Lane) London.
“All the drawings will be burnt at the end of the show…”

Kino London @ Vibe Bar

KINOENDSLATE-resize

London’s most inclusive film night hits The Vibe Bar in Brick Lane on Thursday 1st March.  Kino London is London’s only open-mic short film night and is the only event of its kind showcasing a broad range of new work to be screened. Each event is a genuine reflection of the established and emerging talent of London’s filmmakers.

Filmmakers register in advance to screen their short at the next event, sight unseen.  Screening slots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Filmmakers turn up with their film on the night, introduce it personally then stick around to discuss their work with audience and filmmakers alike.

Kino also runs a monthly filmmaking Challenge which is open to anyone who wants to work on a short – in any capacity. The film idea is provided by the audience, and the short is produced in the 30 days between screenings.

Kino are a truly open platform for both experienced filmmakers and those finding their feet as storytellers and producers. As both industry professionals and first-timers bring their shorts to Kino, the bar remains high for all those who screen.  The binding philosophy behind Kino is the belief in making high quality video with the minimum of resources, and in a regular, competition-free platform in which filmmakers can experiment and develop.

What makes Kino so exciting?

  • An inclusive, open platform for the capital’s filmmakers
  • Worldwide network of filmmakers, creatives and video technicians
  • As raw, fresh and exciting as filmmaking gets…

The next edition of downtheditch styler features the lovely Lisa who is a knitwear fashion student in Nottingham.  She tells us that her fashion icon is Alexa Chung and that her style is a mix and match from High Street stores and Vintage shops.

Take a look at her thick grey scarf which she wears over her dad’s Levis jacket!

She wears a top from Topshop with some tights and some vintage purple Clarks.

Last but not least she shows off her rather cute rucksack from Italy which her friend gave to her.

As always, enjoy the video!

downtheditch styler: Christina [EP.08]

downtheditch styler Christina ep 08

It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t do something to mark London Fashion Week, so we happily  welcome the return of our downtheditch styler series of Shoreditch street style videos.  Today we meet Visual Merchandiser Christina wearing a rather fetching hat, fur coat, and amazingly detailed under jacket.

Her whole look and style is a wonderful combination of vintage and contemporary styles, along with a nice blend of fabrics.  Christina is definitely one of the most stylish we have featured in our styler series and she is a fantastic representation of Shoreditch street style.

Enjoy the video!
