The Pedibus comes to Shoreditch

Austrian bike ride small

Austrian culture comes to ‘the ditch’ on Thursday 29th March – Having a long month? Bank balance groaning under the pressure of socialising just before pay day? If you fancy something different to do in the evening with no costly bills, look out for the In Pursuit Bike and dirndl girls. This multi-seater ‘pedi-bus’ could be yours for an hour after work – bring some friends and have a few beers.

The pedibus is a 10 seater peddle powered bus and will be making its rounds in the financial district, hitting Tower Hill, Bishopsgate, Spitalfields and Liverpool Street.   On the day you will have a chance of winning a 10 day austrian adventure for two.  With the nice weather we have been having recently this certainly will be a sight to behold as the pedibus passes through the Shoreditch streets!

On a sunny beautiful day in Shoreditch we headed down to a secret rooftop location ‘downtheditch’ to interview 3 piece electronic and soul band Belleruche.  We find out a bit of background about the band and how they started out selling a series of 7″ records on their own record label, Hippoflex Records before being signed by Brighton based label Tru Thoughts in 2007.   As the sun sets in the background, we are also treated to an exclusive roof top performance by the band , we hope you enjoy!

Bottega Prelibato – Rivington Street

bottega prelibato starter

Fancy some Italian fine dining ‘down the ditch’? look no further than the hidden gem that is Bottega Prelibato on Rivington Street.  I was fortunate enough to enjoy the pleasure of having a meal at this fine Italian eatery thanks to the lovely people at Base Property, after having been a monthly competition winner.

Bottega Prelibato was established in 2008 and reflects co founders Gianfillipo and Andrea’s passion for food and arts.  The restaurant quickly became very popular amongst those that live and work in Shoreditch.  The restaurant is renowned for its lively atmosphere largely due to the welcoming atmosphere and basement art gallery.

As you enter the restaurant staff are very welcoming and friendly as they show you to your seats and ensure you are comfortable.  Their food range includes fresh Italian products with a homemade feel.  You are treated to a truly unique experience as their lunch time and evening menu changes every day and the polite staff take the time to explain the day’s menu and what is included in each item.

For starters I enjoyed the goats cheese and peppers which was simply sublime, the goats cheese and peppers was prepared to perfection.  Goats cheese is often one of those dishes that can become very overpowering, but the dish had the perfect classic goats cheese taste, whilst remaining light and fluffy.

The main dish of sea bass fillet and baby squids was simply to die for, the sea bass had such a beautiful soft texture that literally melted in your mouth. Portion sizes are generous without leaving you feeling to full for dessert.  The restaurant is also very reasonably priced considering the super high quality of the food, one could easily enjoy a meal a full 3 course meal for around £25 – 30 per head and I guarantee it will be worth every penny.

The Nest April Bank Holiday: MJ Cole & Wookie

Nest logos- blk, fill and reverse

Sunday 8th April, 7pm – 2am, £7 entry
RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY presents T. WILLIAMS + MJ COLE + WOOKIE + ELIJAH & SKILLIAM + NIGHTWAVE

Red Bull Music Academy returns to The Nest for the final instalment of the Bank Holiday programming. Presenting a soundscape journey from garage, grime and funky to footwork and house, the Red Bull Music Academy team bring some of the most influential players within UK bass music to our basement disco.

Ex-grime don and Deep Teknologi label boss, T Williams is without question one of the most exciting house/bass producers to come out of the UK in recent years. His ruffneck take on the classic 4×4 genre fully burst onto the scene in mid 2010 with the three track EP he released on Local Action (featuring the heavily played and remixed track, ‘Heartbeat’). Since then, he’s played alongside a variety of artists including James Zabiela, Ben Westbeech, Space Dimension Controller and Paul Woolford, laying testament to his cross-genre distinctiveness.

MJ Cole, forefather of the UKG sound and unapologetic lover of a bassline, joins T Williams. MJ Cole is known for his productions including the top ten hit “Crazy Love”, the albums “Sincere” and “Cut To The Chase” plus a Mercury nomination and MOBO Best Producer award. With a slew of low-end, clacky dance floor tracks recently uploaded to soundcloud under the header “2012”, MJ Cole’s studio efforts hint at some big releases this year. Awe at his impeccable song selection on Sunday 8th.

Seminal garage producer, Wookie, is joined by the original kids of grime, Elijah & Skilliam as well as LuckyMe affiliate and Red Bull Music Academy 2011 alumna Nightwave. Highlights from the night will be recorded and broadcast exclusively on rbmaradio.com

Applications for the Red Bull Music Academy 2012, set to happen in New York City from September 30th to November 2nd, are still open. Interested producers, vocalists, instrumentalists and DJs can sign up for what will be the musical experience of a lifetime on redbullmusicacademy.com until April 2nd.
