Shoreditch: A history

south-shore

Check out this interesting short video on the history of Shoreditch from shoreditchhistory.com.  The video looks at the area’s history as the capital’s heartbeat of furniture making.  The video looks at how the Regent’s Canal was a vital link in transporting materials and how the streets of Shoreditch today still hold hallmarks of the industries that populated them.  The video then moves on to look at the renaissance of the area during the ‘Brit Art’ movement as industrial buildings and warehouses became luxury apartments and trendy nightspots.

Old Street’s Thai Thai restaurant is the one of the East End’s little gems with far ranging appeal to hipster socialites and East End locals.  If you are a Thai Green Curry or Pad Thai chicken connoisseur look no further than Thai Thai.  With beautiful ambience for a relaxed atmosphere and charming wood furnishings Thai Thai is a great place for a meal with friends and colleagues.  A special mention for the pumpkin curry must be made as we quickly approach Halloween, a item on the menu that provides a genuinely unique offering.  Staff are friendly, courteous and polite  so you can rest assured that you will receive service with a smile.

sola-rosa-del-ray

Since Andrew Spraggon’s first formative releases as Sola Rosa at the turn of the 21st century, he’s steadily built a reputation for his deft synthesis of styles and quiet disregard for the niceties of genre boundaries. With a catch-all sound encompassing the best of hip hop, reggae, jazz, latin, soul and funk, all six of Sola Rosa’s criticallyacclaimed albums are a potent distillation of the music that’s influenced Spraggon over the course of his decade long career as a musician and producer.

Live - Sola Rosa Soundsystem featuring Spikey Tee (Bomb the Bass/Mr Scruff) and Lisa Tomlins (Fat Freddy’s Drop/Trinity Roots) - International Observer

7.30+ Tickets: £9+b/f from here

November 14th sees the launch of the new single from Clement Marfo and The Frontline “Overtime” and to showcase their work they have laid down cracking visuals to their video for the Royal T Remix.   Set mostly around Shoreditch’s 24 hour beigel strip, this video is especially cracking as it features me in my JDilla t-shirt for literally a couple of seconds around the 1.52 mark.  You can send my royalty cheque in the post guys, thanks!
