Rivington Grill Shoreditch

rivington grill

Rivington Grill focuses on the best of British food and cooking.  They offer a broad seasonal menu which reflects the heritage of Britain and they use ingridents sourced from small independent suppliers, where possible.  As we are now firmly in Spring, signature ingridents include, new turnips, wild asparagus, cornish new potatoes, Jersey Royals, spring greens, wild sea kale and St George’s mushrooms.  The spring lamb comes from the British fields and they have short gull’s eggs until 15th May.

Bottega Prelibato – Rivington Street

bottega prelibato starter

Fancy some Italian fine dining ‘down the ditch’? look no further than the hidden gem that is Bottega Prelibato on Rivington Street.  I was fortunate enough to enjoy the pleasure of having a meal at this fine Italian eatery thanks to the lovely people at Base Property, after having been a monthly competition winner.

Bottega Prelibato was established in 2008 and reflects co founders Gianfillipo and Andrea’s passion for food and arts.  The restaurant quickly became very popular amongst those that live and work in Shoreditch.  The restaurant is renowned for its lively atmosphere largely due to the welcoming atmosphere and basement art gallery.

As you enter the restaurant staff are very welcoming and friendly as they show you to your seats and ensure you are comfortable.  Their food range includes fresh Italian products with a homemade feel.  You are treated to a truly unique experience as their lunch time and evening menu changes every day and the polite staff take the time to explain the day’s menu and what is included in each item.

For starters I enjoyed the goats cheese and peppers which was simply sublime, the goats cheese and peppers was prepared to perfection.  Goats cheese is often one of those dishes that can become very overpowering, but the dish had the perfect classic goats cheese taste, whilst remaining light and fluffy.

The main dish of sea bass fillet and baby squids was simply to die for, the sea bass had such a beautiful soft texture that literally melted in your mouth. Portion sizes are generous without leaving you feeling to full for dessert.  The restaurant is also very reasonably priced considering the super high quality of the food, one could easily enjoy a meal a full 3 course meal for around £25 – 30 per head and I guarantee it will be worth every penny.

The Diner is an Authentic American Diner that’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have all day breakfast, which includes pancakes, breakfast burrito’s, waffles, french toast, hash browns and the Hungry Man’s Breakfast as well as a selection of salads, burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, desserts, milkshakes and much much more. My favourite food at The Diner include; Banana Pancakes, Mexican Breakfast (2 Eggs, Chorizo, Black Beans, Tortilla & Tomato Salsa), Mexican burger, The Diablo, Chicken Fajita, Onion Rings, Sweet Potato Fries, Chilli Cheese Fries, Chicken Caesar, Hot Chocolate and there variety of shakes.

It’s also great as the waiters and waitresses are shoreditch cool and fit in great with the 1950′s vibe.

Avalon Bar

mainbar2

Last saturday to celebrate a friends birthday we headed out to Avalon. We got there just in time for happy hour (2 cocktails for £8…Nice!!). I went for the passion fruit daiquiri, my 2 other friends went for mojitos and my other friend had a mango daiquiri. I have to give a big thank you to the barman who knew what to offer and how to make a variety of drinks as unfortunately there wasn’t a bar menu and the bar women he was with only knew how to do mixers and mojito’s, so the barmen was in high demand from us cocktail girls.

That aside the decor of the place is glitzy and has luxurious furnishings drawn from asian influences. They have a shi-sha bar (need to go there next time around) and a great dancefloor where the DJ was playing club classics and a mixture of RnB, Hip-Hop, Dance and Garage. We had a fab night singing and dancing the night away.

Discovered this little coffee shop last week. It is quaint and right next to The Diner, Shoreditch (YUM!!). I love the look and feel of the place. It’s a great place for catch up’s and meetings due to the seating arrangements and on the left hand side there is a little booth area; which gets taken up pretty quickly. They have an assortment of coffees and teas and delicious looking pastries (which I have yet to try). There Flat White is called a Flat What (Love It). The staff are cool, friendly and very shoreditch, I even got some coffee art on my Mocha (Nice way to start the day), which is always nice plus the price is right and they have free wi-fi. So all in all it’s all good and if you are around you should definitely stop by.

My next trip will consist of a latte and a tasty pastry for sure!!!!

Beigel Bake Brick Lane Bakery

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For as long as I can remember I have been eating bagels from here (10/11 yrs old til present) mainly cream cheese. This is due to the fact my dad says it is the best beigel place and he used to come here when he was 18/19 and yes he still goes there today at times the family insists that he drives there just for bagels.

Enough family talk! It’s all about the bagels.

Within walking distance of Shoreditch High Street station not to far from RichMix and Boxpark. Situated on the famous Brick Lane is Bagel Bake it has been there since 1977 and I have to say they do the best bagels ever. The large bonus is that it is open 24 hours 7 days a week. Yes, you read correctly, 7 days a week.Usually I’m there in the late afternoon/evening eating a cream cheese bagel. But after a morning visit to Boxpark I broke away from my usual cream cheese and went for a Hot Salt Beef bagel with mustard and it did not disappoint; the bagel is warm and the hot salt beef amount is generous as is the mustard (After sinking my teeth into it I knew lunch was out the question). Fresh ingredients, wide selection of fillings, generous portions, nice staff and value for money 24/7. It’s all good. What’s not to love.

Next time round I may try something sweet like a almond slice or cheesecake.
