Hackney House in Shoreditch

hackney house

Hackney Council has given the green light for the erection of a temporary marquee which will showcase East London investment opportunities to journalists and business leaders from across the world.   Based in Shoreditch on Holywell Lane near Shoreditch High Street Station, Hackney House will host networking events for business and media investors during the period of the Olympic Games.  The venue will also offer exhibitions, conferences and offer live entertainment from early May to Mid September.

News of the plans to put up the structure has been causing some controversy as local residents fear it will become nothing more than a glorified ‘beer tent’.   These concerns stem from the fact that the venue is currently in process of applying for a licence which will allow alcohol to be served on the premises from until 11pm or midnight, 7 days a week.

Are you a Shoreditch resident? What do you think of the proposals for Hackney House?
