The Screen Social is a music vs film mashup with an extended mix of music videos, animation, shorts, experiments and much more.
Their first Thursday Screen Social rolls into Ole London Town on April 12th at The Book Club EC2. The new extended mix will feature even more content than before and steadily builds from 7pm starting with shorts and experiments through music videos, a soundtrack soup from DJs The Sound of Film, showcases from outstanding production collectives Bullion & Canada… a live set from Franz Kirmann, complemented by Cosmo Disco and a crescendo of sound & vision which will ignite the soul!
SPECIAL GUESTS Music video production collective BULLION
Although barely 2 years old, Bullion Productions are proving their worth in the world of music promos. Having produced videos for a wide-range of artists including Summer Camp (left), Radio Soulwax, Moby, Professor Green and The Maccabees, Bullion’s value is growing exponentially!
FEATURED SHOWCASE
Directing collective CANADA
Quirky, cool, Spanish, are all words which might describe our second director’s showcase, from the three-man team who make up Canada. Their irreverent style has charmed acts like Two Door Cinema Club, The Vaccines and Battles (left) and they’re represented by the production behemoth, Partizan.
LIVE ACT
FRANZ KIRMANN Franz Kirmann is a London based French electronic musician. Having worked as a film editor, Franz has kept a strong cinematic sensibility that’s reflected in his music. According to Franz, he has a weakness for walls of sound and fragile melodies, which to him are the sonic equivalent of the slow-motion sequences and landscapes in cinemascope. His live set unites with his own unique synced projected visuals on our 4 screens.
DJs
THE SOUND OF FILM The Sound of Film bring their soundtrack soup to Screen Social every month, with selections ranging from the anthemic to the obscure. There is always something to stir the soul taking you to a place you thought you’d forgotten and something else to hit that euphoric spot in your nostalgia.
COSMO DISCO
A long-time friend and sometime collaborator of Screen Social, Cosmo Disco spins a select set of electro breaks and atmospheric beats, matching the mood of SS content to a tee. Look out for some hard-to-find tunes you’ll want to take home with you. He can also be found playing out on Space Invader Radio.
FEATURES
FILM FREESTYLE
Screen your music promo/film/experiments in the Film Freestyle ‘window’… Turn up with a Vimeo or YouTube link to your film and we’ll screen it on the night. No submission process, just a) give us the link around 9pm b) wait for our FF screening window around 10pm and c) introduce the film really fast! Films must be no more than 5 mins & brave ‘Film Freestylers’ get a Fujifilm Shorts DVD on the night!
11:59
Beginning appropriately with the first extended mix until 2am, 11:59 is the point in the evening they do something cool. It might be something simple like screen some classic music videos, a special late-night live performance, or something else.
SOUNDTRACK HIDE & SEEK
WIN WIN WIN! by guessing the 5 movie soundtrack tunes hidden in a certain part of the evening. There’s a bar tab up for grabs but be warned, The Sound of Film don’t make it easy!
